How to Fight Procrastination

As Christians, we often have a strong mindset of “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me”. There are days where that bible verse truly helps us to be accomplished in our day. However, often times we struggle with prioritization and procrastination.

I wanted to write about this, since we are at the end of the year and some of you might feel as though you did not get done what you felt the LORD instruct you to do this year. You might feel behind in where you wanted to be. You might feel as though, God is disappointed in you for not completing things you had hoped to this year.

I came to tell you, you are not alone my friend. There are many ways we can handle this disappointment. We can handle it negatively or we can handle it in a way that will help us get a head start into the new year!

First and foremost, what you should know is that God’s promises are always kept. Hebrews 10:23 states “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

I have learned quite a few things this year, while in communion with Jesus. A common theme of this year has been solely to TRUST HIM. He wants us to live a more expectant lifestyle. He wants us to stop putting our trust in ourselves and solely in Him. It can be very difficult when you see that life seems to be uncontrollable and out of our hands, when we leave it completely to Him. However, He always comes through. He will never forsake you.

God created you for such a time as this, right? So why, why do we lack trust in the one who created us? Why do we question if He is going to catch us when we fall. As a matter of fact in the bible it says “God Is Within Her, She Will Not Fail." Psalm 46:5. Other versions of this text use the word “fall”, such as NIV. He created you in HIS story. He knows the beginning from the end and where you fit into it all.

If there is something in your heart that you have been really wanting to do, but you have been wondering how to get started, ask the Lord for guidance. I assure you, if you listen, you will get the help you need to start! Pray, believe, receive. God wants us to live with the mindset of expectancy. He wants to give us the desires of our hearts when we are close in relationship with Him (Psalm 37:4). He specifically taught me this year to learn that His daughters and children have favor in this world. We have a God that created all things! He has the ability to move any mountain. He has the ability to change the timelines, to push you ahead of the game! He needs you to believe that and most importantly to trust Him with every fiber of your being. It is a deep relationship to trust someone with your life that deeply. He wants that intimacy. Learn that you are highly favored, when you walk everyday with the Lord.

The point I am trying to make is; have faith in Him to help you get off the ground! Don’t let your fear paralyze you into submission anymore. The world needs you to show them who God created you to be. We are all part of God’s story, and have a very important role in it! Don’t wait to start something in January, get started today!
