Persevering in Faith: How God Turned Our Trials into Triumph
A lot of times, we wonder how we’re going to get from point A to point B in our goals. The new generation, raised on technology, often has the mindset that things need to be completed overnight! I’ve been this way for many years. Even though I was born in the early 90s, I’ve always had that mindset too.
Growing up, I rarely saw my parents struggle. Whatever they wanted, they made happen quickly. On the other hand, my husband, Kyle, had a very different experience. He grew up with the electricity and water sometimes getting turned off. I was blessed with financial security, but Kyle’s childhood was marked by struggle.
What’s interesting is that Kyle was born and dedicated to Jesus right away. He was raised in church, while I, although baptized as a baby, was brought up in a home that didn’t focus on faith. Our house followed the ways of the world, not the ways of the Spirit.
These two very different upbringings taught me a lot when I met Kyle. He was raised with a strong work ethic and, despite his family’s financial hardships, they still sent him to a private Christian school. They taught him radical faith and to believe in God for everything. But when we met, I didn’t understand that at all. I thought that if we couldn’t keep the lights on ourselves, then we were failures, and God wouldn’t rescue us from laziness. I believed that any job, no matter how poor the salary, was better than nothing.
But seeing Kyle’s faith opened my eyes. He is one of the hardest-working people I know, yet he was always behind on bills. He never took a vacation. He worked nights, days, and even went to college full-time, earning multiple degrees. Despite his qualifications, when we met, no one would hire him. He picked up a few side gigs, but he couldn’t get his career off the ground.
After five years of this, Kyle decided that God didn’t want him working for companies; He wanted Kyle to be an entrepreneur. That’s how we found ourselves running our own businesses. It’s been a tough road, but it’s clear now that this is what God had been pushing us toward. He is providing for our every need. Never giving up is the recipe to becoming His warrior. When we persevere through challenges, we’re not just chasing our dreams — we’re being shaped into warriors for His kingdom.
"You just need the will, and He provides a way!" - Kyle T. Bass
The moral of this story? If something seems impossible, pray and invite God into that situation. He will make a way, I promise you with all my heart. I know this is true! He is always good. When doors close, it’s His protection. As Kyle wisely says, "When you have the will, He provides the way." When you give Him your plans, He may change them or even reject them, but as long as you are dependent on Him and walking by faith, He will get you to where you need to be.
