Homemade Chocolate Chips
Guys!! I found a way to make my own chocolate chips! For a while we were using Hu chocolate chips, but a) those are so expensive b) they can be tough to find c) they have no chemicals in them, but still didn’t love the taste of them.
I’m not sure if you know, but since I was a child I was addicted to candy, sugar, desserts to a point that it was causing me to have headaches, dizziness, loss of appetite for real food, fatigue, bloat and irritability. All of this led me down a path to depression and anxiety. Until one day, I was over the way I had been feeling. Just over it. I researched and researched and went down an insane rabbit hole. God used the time I was laid off from work due to the pandemic to educate myself on the food system in America. The things I had found explained a lot about how I feel and how my husband feels. We learned a lot, indeed. We began spending a lot more money on food that was organic and pasture raised, and clean. Let me tell you, God always provided. We never went hungry. Even my dog had to change his little diet!
Anyway…back to this incredible chocolate chip recipe! It is amazing! We used regular 1/2 cup Hershey chocolate cocoa powder, one stick of grass fed Irish butter, one tsp of vanilla extract, and 3/4 cup coconut sugar! That’s it!
You will need a large mason jar, a pot with three inches of water inside, and a stirrer. Bring water to a boil. Fill the mason jar with the cocoa powder, butter and coconut sugar, and place jar inside boiling water pot, stir until butter completely melts. Take jar out and mix in vanilla extract. Prepare a 9x13 baking dish and place parchment paper down, and pour chocolate into the dish making sure even throughout. Place the dish in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
