Dare to Move: Overcoming Procrastination and Laziness Through Christ

Hi friends!

I have a word from the King of Kings—Jesus!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve struggled with laziness, procrastination, and the fear of moving forward. I used to spend hours swinging alone in my backyard, my pink iPod Nano playing Dare You to Move by Switchfoot on repeat. Now, fast forward twenty years—I recently rediscovered their music and Creed after attending their Summer of '99 concert in my new hometown, 750 miles away from where I grew up. I see now that God had been using that song all along to nudge me forward.

Those repetitive dreams of being paralyzed? They were a reflection of the sin I had been unknowingly battling my entire life. For years—decades, even—I’ve wasted so much time in this struggle.

But here’s the truth: He has always been daring me to move.

We often hear people say, "If you got up this morning, you still have a purpose." That saying never fully resonated with me—until today.

The reality is, He doesn’t owe us anything. Every breath, every moment is a gift. He gave us time on this earth not to squander it, but to use it for good, to live purposefully. As Switchfoot’s song says, "Between who you are and who you could be, He dares you to lift yourself off the floor." (I remember those words so vividly as I pumped my legs to swing higher off the ground.)

It’s time to stop telling yourself that you’re not enough. Stop believing that no one wants you. Stop thinking you’re unworthy to speak, Moses! It’s not our job to be perfect—it’s our job to point others to Christ. We are called to honor Him with our whole lives. We can’t afford to sit idly by, listening to the enemy’s lies day after day. No! We must stand firm in His Word and walk confidently in the identity He has given us.

He has been pursuing you since the beginning. He was there, watching over you when you were that little girl on the swing, lifting you higher and higher. He was gently speaking to your heart, trying to capture your attention. You were chosen for such a time as this, Esther.

From this day forward, let’s live every moment with purpose. Each second is a precious gift from our Lord Jesus Christ. He gave us freedom through what He endured on the cross, for you and for me. It’s time to cut off the excuses and start moving. Rebuke the spirit of laziness in Jesus’ name! You have the authority of Christ living within you! He will strengthen you, but you’ve got to move—move—move!

Exodus 14:14-15 ESV "The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." The Lord said to Moses, "Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward."

If you’re struggling with laziness or procrastination, don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to be your accountability partner, or simply someone to pray with.

May God bless you and guide your purpose. You are alive for a reason!

Jesus loves you!
