Why Spending Time with God Transforms Your Life and Purpose
Hey friends!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend with family and friends! Ours was busy—full of actual labor, he-he! But in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, I noticed something truly amazing.
Sometimes, I find myself acting like Martha—always tending to the chores, tidying up, prepping meals—and before I know it, my time with Jesus gets... pushed aside. Yes, I always invite Him into my day and thank Him for another one, but we’re meant to do more than that. Not because it’s a task on our to-do list, but because it’s good for us. It nourishes us to pause, take a deep breath, and sit in the presence of the Lord. It’s so important to open the Bible and read His Word. Even if you feel like you’re not fully understanding everything, simply reading it feeds your spirit in ways you may not realize.
By nature, I’m a creative person. I love colors, architecture, stationery, and organization—these are the things that get my creativity flowing. I’ve noticed that when I spend time with God, my creativity comes alive. My depression lifts, and suddenly, I’m able to dream again. But when I skip those moments with Him, I lose touch with who I am in Him. I lose the creativity He’s planted inside me, I lose faith in my purpose, and I start feeling... lost, fearful, stressed, depressed, and exhausted. It doesn't take long for those feelings to creep in when the days slip by and I haven’t opened my Bible or spent time with Him. The distractions of this world are constant.
This past weekend, I woke up early one morning and spent about thirty-three minutes with YHWH. I showed up fully as myself, sat at His feet, opened my Bible, and read a few chapters. I praised Him for all He’s given me. Later that day, He revealed my purpose—something He had shown me before, but I had let everyday life distract me for months. I had completely forgotten what He asked me to do.
The reason I’m sharing this is to encourage you: spending time with God is essential. It keeps you in step with what He’s calling YOU to do. When we drift away, it becomes harder to hear Him. He never leaves us, but with the free will He’s given us, we must choose to seek Him. He is so good, gracious, loving, and patient. Spending time with Him is for our good, for our well-being. I pray that you carve out more time for Him each day.
Jesus loves you!
