Trust God, Even With the Little Things!

Hi friend!

Is your budget so tight that you’re worried about an empty pantry? Do you feel like your job isn’t covering your needs? Or maybe you feel God is guiding your every step, yet things are still so tight that you’re afraid to spend another dollar.

I understand exactly how you feel!

With the uncertainty in the world today and rising grocery prices, it seems like every time you go to the store, your bill goes up, but your bags get lighter. On top of that, we face the challenge of trying to feed our families healthy food. What even qualifies as healthy anymore? You may think, "I can’t afford organic or non-processed food for my family," and that’s a thought many of us have had.

While I don’t have children yet, my husband eats enough for three people! He works out, he’s a big guy, and he has a list of food allergies and sensitivities that would make your head spin. If he eats anything processed, GMO, or not organic, it doesn’t take long before he’s hit with nausea or a splitting headache.

Here’s what I’ve learned: when you start paying attention to what you eat, your body adapts. Many of us abuse our bodies with processed foods, fast food, or easy-to-prep meals loaded with preservatives. But we are called to take care of the bodies God has given us—after all, our body is His temple. When we nourish ourselves with good food, we think clearer, we feel better, and our quality of life improves.

But let’s be honest: eating clean is expensive. Making the switch to organic foods can feel impossible when you’re already stretching your dollar to its limit. Trust me, I’ve been there. But God revealed something to me that I want to share with you.

We serve the Most High God. You are His child, and feeding you properly is not too hard for Him. If God cares for the sparrows, how much more does He want to care for you? He doesn’t want us to rely on a broken medical system to keep us well. He wants us to turn to natural, whole foods—things He created on this earth to nourish and sustain us.

You might wonder, "How can I trust that organic labels aren’t corrupt too?" Believe me, I’ve questioned that many times. But my husband is a living example—if he eats anything with pesticides, he gets sick immediately. That tells me that while the system isn’t perfect, eating organic is still a better option. And really, it comes down to a choice: do you want to invest in your health now by eating well, or spend even more later on medical bills that only perpetuate illness? Our current healthcare system isn’t designed to heal us; it profits from keeping us sick.

It’s time to place our full trust in Jesus. He doesn’t want us struggling with our health. He wants us to live full, healthy lives so we can accomplish the purpose He has set before us. Without our health, it’s hard to live out that purpose.

I’ve experienced fear when it comes to food too—fear of not having enough, fear of spending too much. It even led me to not eating enough at times. But God has been whispering to me that He has more for me. He wants us to eat well and nourish ourselves. When I under-eat, I crave junk food, which leads to feeling sluggish and wasting the time God has given me to serve His Kingdom. I’ve learned to trust that God will provide the food I need—food that will be good for my body and my life. And I know He will do the same for you.

Trust Him to be your source. When you shop, make a list of what you need to nourish your family. Don’t stress over the prices—God will take care of you. This is a test of faith, and He delights in seeing you trust Him with the details of your life, even your grocery list. Of course, don’t overspend, but confidently get what your family needs (that refers to amount per week as well) to live a healthy, positive lifestyle. I promise, God will provide. Your trust in Him will transform your life because He sees your faith and your heart.

If meal planning feels overwhelming, try this: Keep a dry erase board on the fridge and write out your daily menu. It helps reduce food waste, keeps you organized, and makes meal prep easier. In my first week of doing this, I bought food I knew my husband enjoyed—high-protein snacks, fresh vegetables, and simple, clean snacks like coconut rolls or Siete chips. You can even bake a healthy snack that will last the week. When you come home from the store, take stock of your inventory and plan meals around what you have. It makes a world of difference!
